One of my favourite things to do between writing sessions is keeping an eye on publishers that are actively accepting submissions. Whether you're finishing your very first manuscript or preparing your tenth, finding publishers that are actually open can save you a lot of time and disappointment. I recently spent some time browsing QueryTracker and was excited to see that there are quite a few publishers currently looking for new stories.
If you've been sitting on a completed manuscript wondering if it's finally time to hit "submit," maybe this is your sign. Every publisher has different submission guidelines, preferred genres, and formatting requirements, so make sure you read each publisher's website carefully before sending your work. A little extra preparation can make a big difference.
As someone who has been through the submission process myself, I know how exciting and nerve-racking it can be.

So if your manuscript is polished and ready to go, don't let fear stop you. The worst outcome is a rejection, but the best outcome could completely change your writing career. Keep writing, keep improving, and most importantly, keep submitting.
